The Manoj Bajpayee-Diljit Dosanjh starrer hung on for as good as 10 weeks straight.

Though the collections were quite low at Rs 4 crore, it paved the way for other smaller films to release for the next five months until Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao’s biggie, Roohi.

Housefull 4, 2019

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, 2015
Box office collection: Rs 210 crore

Sooraj Barjatya’s films are always family entertainers, and hence there was a lot of excitement in the trade and exhibition circles, when his Prem Ratan Dhan Payo arrived on Diwali.

Moreover, Salman Khan was back as Prem and Himesh Reshammiya’s music has also been quite popular.

Though the film wasn’t the best of Barjatya, a blockbuster opening followed by decent sustenance allowed Prem Ratan Dhan Payo to go past the Rs 200 crore mark.

Happy New Year, 2014
Box office collection: Rs 205 crore

Shah Rukh Khan’s last big hit, Happy New Year, was panned when it released on Diwali.

The film went on to find audiences on a sustained basis and though it was expected to do much better, it ended up scoring a double century.

It has been seven years since, and one waits for Shah Rukh Khan to score his next double century with Pathan.

Krrish 3, 2013
