On Monday President Draupadi Murmu greeted former President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on the occasion of her birthday.
Pratibha Patil, the country’s first woman President, was born on December 19, 1934, in Nadgaon in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. She was the President from 25 July 2007 to 25 July 2012.
Draupadi Murmu took to her twitter, shared a pic of her with Pratibha Patil and wrote: Greetings and best wishes to Smt Pratibha Devisingh Patil Ji, the first woman President of India, on her birthday. May God bless her with long and healthy life in service of the nation.
Pratibha Patil is a politician and lawyer who served as the 12th president of India spanning from 2007 to 2012. She is the first woman to become the president of India. A member of the Indian National Congress, she previously served as the Governor of Rajasthan from 2004 to 2007, and was a member of Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996. On 8th November 2004 she was appointed the 17th Governor of Rajasthan, the 1st woman to hold that office.
She married Devisingh Ramsingh Shekhawat on 7 July 1965. The couple has a daughter named Jyoti Rathore and a son, Raosaheb Shekhawat, who is also a politician.
