Strictly’s Angela Scanlon speaks on ‘horrendous’ time and brands result ‘harsh’

Strictly: Angela shows off dancing skills during samba routine

Angela Scanlon has bravely shared that she found the Samba “really, really difficult” to perform during Strictly Come Dancing.

The Irish presenter, who is paired with Carlos Gu, scored 27 points out of a possible 40 when she took to the dancefloor over the weekend.

Despite being joint bottom of the leader board with Adam Thomas, Angela made it through to another week on the BBC dance competition.

She admitted in an update on Virgin Radio that she found the Samba her most challenging routine yet.

“I did not realise that the Samba was so violently difficult,” Angela revealed.

“People avoid the Samba, they choose not to do it. Didn’t know that was an option.

“Honestly, the beginning of the week was horrendous. I found it really, really difficult. The most difficult in the entire series so far.”

She added: “Although, we are joint bottom of the leaderboard…harsh.

“I really enjoyed the dance in the end. Thank you again for all the support.”

Angela and Carlos danced the Samba to Ain’t It Funny by Jennifer Lopez, but she was marked down for her upper body position.

Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse both pointed out that whilst they loved the “atmosphere” and “chemistry”, they noticed that Angela was leaning too far back.

Anton Du Beke agreed with the other judges and advised Angela to “watch her weight position” in the future.

Craig’s verdict was more blunt, saying that he felt Angela’s body was “disconnected” but she brought an “incredible energy” to the dancefloor.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 11th November on BBC One.
