Priscilla Presley broke down during an interview with Piers Morgan as she opened up about the death of her daughter Lisa Marie.
Lisa Marie, who was the only daughter of Elvis Presley, passed away earlier this year at age 54 from a small bowel obstruction caused by previous weight-loss surgery.
Now, Priscilla, 78, has revealed that her daughter was suicidal in the months before her death, as she struggled with the loss of her son Benjamin Keough, who took his own life in 2020.
Speaking to Piers during his TalkTV show, Priscilla emotionally said: "Losing Ben was the hardest thing for her, he took his own life, he was the love of her life. She adored him, she would do anything for him.
"We were sitting in Memphis in the suit, she said 'I don't know if I want to be here.' She would go on about Ben and how she was still grieving, this was a couple of months."
Lisa Marie's death came just days after she attended the 80th annual Golden Globe awards, with Priscilla now recalling how she knew something wasn't right that night, and that the pair had left early after Lisa Marie's stomach began hurting.
Two days later she was rushed into hospital after ex-husband Danny Keough found her unconscious at home.
Discussing this horrific time, Priscilla said: "I got right in the car, but she was already gone. I still can't believe it. I don’t wish this on any mother. It was unbearable. I lost my mother, I lost my grandson, and I lost my daughter. It's still shocking that we don't have her."
Lisa Marie had publicly spoken about mourning her son, writing an essay published by US magazine People, just months before her own tragic death.
She wrote: "I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of 9 years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far.
She then said her 14-year-old twins kept her going. “I keep going for my girls. I keep going because my son made it very clear in his final moments that taking care of his little sisters and looking out for them were on the forefront of his concerns and his mind. He absolutely adored them and they him."
Lisa Marie passed away just two and a half years after her son, and both are buried in the Meditation Garden at the Presley's Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, where the body of her father Elvis Presley also lies.
