Phillip Schofield took to Twitter to set the record straight after he was quizzed about his association with a money making scheme. The 59-year-old was pictured alongside his co-star Holly Willoughby in the advertisement, as the pair fronted This Morning.

The online advert urged people to make money from home and claimed that a student had been featured on the daytime show to discuss the scheme.

The 59-year-old reacted to a social media user who questioned the presenter.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the person in question wrote: “@Schofe @hollywills Is this real?”

The post was accompanied with a screenshot, which read: “Student reveals he earns more than £40,000 every month working from home.”

It went on: “Appearing on This Morning show, Akshay explained to us in detail on how he made it. One day while browsing online he discovered an automated trading platform.

“The idea was simple: allow the average person the opportunity to cash in on the digital currency boom. Even if they have absolutely no investing or technology experience.”

The advert said that an individual would need to make a £200 deposit or more on an automated trading platform.

Phillip took the opportunity to respond to the query in view of his 4.5 million followers, branding the advert a scam.

He swiftly replied: “Utter s**te!”

The post caught the attention of his followers as the false advertisement sparked concern.

One wrote: “These scams are so unbelievable it’s stunning that people actually fall for them: ‘Kate Winsket warns thousands a month in Bitcoin, she amazed TV presenters by revealing it on national TV’… I mean, really?!!”(sic)

Another remarked: “What beats me is that some people fall for it & it appears nothing ever gets done to stop these folks claiming celebrities back & support these scams. Martin Lewis constantly has to put announcements out.”

“Love you swearing Schofe,” a third commented.

This is not the first time Phillip’s face has been used to in false advertisements.

Back in 2018, the This Morning presenter slammed a fake Facebook advert that claimed he invested in a “revolutionary trading system”.

His co-star Holly was also used to promote diet pills in the same year.

Elsewhere, Holly and her co-star Phillip Schofield were lost for words as the pair chatted with Andrew Neil on This Morning this week.

The 72-year-old’s appearance comes ahead of the launch of his channel GB News.

Andrew thanked the pair for their kind words as he became emotional on-air.

“What are you thanking us for?” Phillip asked.

To which Andrew responded: “For being so kind.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
