Michelle Heaton has spoken out on her journey to overcoming her alcohol addiction in a brave interview as she celebrated one year of sobriety following her time in rehab.
The 42 year old, who recently enjoyed her first family holiday without booze, opened up on in an emotional interview with Closer magazine, sharing that at her "lowest point, I'd wake up in the morning and pray for someone to help me or I just wanted to die."
She continued: “I’d given up on my life and I didn’t care about losing my family or friends, it was only about where the next drink was coming from. My skin was grey, I was exhausted and my body was completely unrecognisable and bloated.
“Rehab saved my life – after my medical examination there, they told me I’d have been dead within days if I hadn’t got help."
Liberty X star Michelle went on to share that she's still on medication to help her pancreas function normally as it has been "completely destroyed" by her history of alcohol consumption.
"Recovery is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but my fight to keep sober is something I’ll do every day for the rest of my life," she shared.
Michelle then shared the most difficult time during her addiction was lying to her husband Hugh Hanley, 43, a fitness expert, and the two children they share together, Faith, 10, and AJ, eight, as she'd often tell them she had a headache while "vomiting in the bathroom".
Katie Price encouraged her to go to rehab at The Priory while other celebrity friends like Loose Women's Denise Welch, who recently celebrated being 10 years sober, sent her "inspiring messages" to show her support.
Since getting help, her husband has forgiven her and the pair are stronger than ever as she said: "I’m now completely honest with Hugh and he feels like he’s got his wife back. He’s forgiven me and we’re best friends again…as well as best friends in the bedroom!”
She's also been honest with her kids about what she's been through. “I’ve talked to my kids about what’s happened because I’m really proud of myself for turning my life around," she shared.
One year on, Michelle has never looked better and recently shared her incredible body transformation to mark how she's changed throughout her sobriety.

She explained she felt "scared, alone" and had "no hope" and was also "grey and swollen" from a failing liver and pancreas.
Michelle then said she now feels "happy" and "self loved and self care" as well as "filled with hope" and plenty of "energy, ambition and healthy".
"I wanted to document my journey for myself and now I’m ready to show what the body can do with hard work and a clear mind," she continued. "This is not so much a #fitness post .. it’s about a journey, it’s about recovery. Anything is possible if you want and work for it !"
