Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has admitted that she refuses to remove her wedding ring as she worries something terrible will happen if she does. Taking to Twitter, the newsreader, 54, responded to avid viewers of Love Your Garden who were commenting on the star’s approach to gardening with her precious jewellery firmly on her hands.

Have never taken it off & now fear it’ll be a jinx if I do – silly really!

Watching the popular ITV gardening programme, viewers were quick to comment on Kate’s refusal to remove her jewellery, even when getting her hands dirty in the soil.

Twitter user @alig1972 posted: “@kategarraway needs to invest in a pair of garden gloves!! #loveyourgarden,” alongside a wink face.

Agreeing, @lally55p replied to the duo: “I’m worried she might lose or damage those beautiful rings.

“Am I the only person who takes off my engagement ring when cooking or gardening? #loveyourgarden,” they asked.

Responding to the concerned tweets, the Life Stories host explained the reasoning behind wearing her wedding ring whilst gardening.

Kate wrote: “I know what you mean – but have never taken it off & now fear it’ll be a jinx if I do – silly really!

“Glad you are enjoying the programme xxx.”

Social media users soon took to the comments to weigh in on the debate.

@annemconnell53 wrote: “I never take my ring off not worth losing x.” (Sic)

While @jasonarnett10 added: “Positive thinking is my way to think Kate.”

Kate’s comments come days after she opened up about her “doubts” going forward with her husband, Derek Draper.

Kate and her two children Billy, 12, and Darcey, 16, were left devastated in March 2020 when Derek was diagnosed with Covid.

Following his battle with the virus, the former lobbyist has been left needing round-the-clock care after suffering long-term damage to his lungs and heart.

Recently, Kate opened up about her worries for their relationship going forward.

Kate’s most recent documentary, Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek, revealed her husband’s devastating condition ahead of his journey for pioneering treatment abroad.

And the mum-of-two also spoke to the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine in February about their relationship and what she sees going forward.

She said: “I’m not sure that we’ve ever fallen out of love, but I think a new path is emerging, a new way to be in love.

“He puts huge trust in me. He just says, ‘Whatever you think’, which is wonderful, but I do get quite tearful about it.

“I think, ‘God, I hope I’m worthy of that trust’.

“But I’ve got his back. That is a relationship in itself, isn’t it?” she added.
