Charli D’Amelio is opening up about playing her song “if you ask me to” for sister Dixie D’Amelio.
While fans did see some of it on season two of The D’Amelio Show, the 18-year-old is dishing on how it didn’t go as planned and where they stand on the subject now.
Find out what she dished inside…
“I played it to her pretty late. I played it to her probably at the wrong time too. It did not go as planned,” Charli told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “Because I had kept it a secret for so long. I feel like she thought there was malicious intent behind it. I mean, luckily now, I mean, she realizes that I don’t think that deeply about it. She’s my sister and she’s my older sister at that, so you know how things like that go.”
“I mean, now we talked, she came in my room for an hour yesterday and we just talked about it and she’s proud and that means a lot, because most of my music that I listen to, that’s not sad pretty much all of the non-sad music that I listen to is because of her. And I learned a lot from my sister,” she continued. “She knows if you play me this song, I’m going to cry right here right now. If you play me this song, I will not be able to not get up and dance. I feel like that’s in the car was super important to us. We have this connection with music where certain songs we’ll be like, ‘Well, this has a memory between us.’”
Charli added, “I think I’ve always supported her and her music and at first, I think it was a bit of a shock because it really came out of nowhere when I told her but now it’s to the point where…we’re having fun with it. She does her style of music that reads to her the way it does and that’s special. I’m doing it this way in a different type of music in my own way and different type of journey within just creating a song.
”
“Everything is good and she’s the best. She is. I love her and she has to deal with me either way.”
