Celine Dion’s touching vow after heartbroken fans react to ‘Stiff Person’ diagnosis

Celine Dion is said to be doing "everything she can" in order to get back on stage and perform for her fans, after recently revealing she's been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.

The singer, 54, recently shared her SPS diagnosis with fans in two videos posted to Instagram, in which she could be seen looking visibly emotional as she spoke about her health.

She opened up about her diagnosis, for which there is no cure, as she said she is doing everything she can to minimise the symptoms she's experiencing.

The response to Celine's social media videos was huge with fans everywhere flocking to support her, and she's now said to be determined to get back on stage.

A source close to the star told People: "It's been a very difficult time and she has a hard road ahead of her, but she is doing everything she can to get back on stage and see her fans.'

"They have always been there for her. For now, she is focusing on her health and her children. She is the picture of resilience."

Celine broke her silence on why she cancelled her European tour earlier this week, after leaving fans concerned when she disappeared out of the spotlight following the cancellations.

She began her first video by saying: "Hello everyone, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reach out to you. I miss you all so much and can’t wait to be on stage talking to you in person. As you know I’ve always been an open book and I wasn’t ready to say anything before but I'm ready now."

Celine continued: "I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and its been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.

"Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff person syndrome which affects 1 in a million people.

"While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all the spasms I’ve been having."

She continued: "Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I'm used to.

"It hurts me to tell you today that this means I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February."

Celine went on to share that she is being helped and supported by a team of doctors and her "precious children", whilst also revealing that she is "working hard" with her sports medicine therapist to "build back my strength".

She ended her message thanking her fans for their support.
