Heart attack Vs Cardiac arrest- Want to join gym? A cardiac check is a must

The heart attack occurs when one of coronary arteries gets blocked and heart muscle is robbed of vital blood supply. A cardiac arrest, though, is when a person’s heart stops pumping  the blood around their body and stop breathing normally. Cardiologists are of the opinion that fitness freaks should get their heart and health checked before hitting the gym.  It is known that Sidharth Shukla (40), Puneeth Rajkumar (46), Raj Kaushal (50), Rajeev Kapoor (58), Vivek (59), Amit Mistry (47) and Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi (47) are some popular actors who died after suffering a heart attack in the last 2 years.

There is an increase in the  young people having heart attacks of late. Health experts say that this is due to poor lifestyle choices, lack of sleep,  increased stress levels, and high intensity exercises or training.

A recent American study revealed that there is a 13 percent increase in SCA- sudden cardiac arrest among people between 30–40 years. According to Indian Heart Association, the  heart disease puts younger Indians more at risk than other demographies.

Cardiologists  say that young individuals these days do not undergo any cardiac check-up before they join a gym. Some people take supplements that are harmful for heart and induce arrhythmia. Conditioning the body before exercising or participating in sports- warm-up and cool-down, is critical.

It’s good to undergo a complete cardiac examination before beginning a gym program.
