In her letter to the PM, the TMC chief said the state, which was scheduled to get 70 PSA plants, has now been intimated that four such oxygen generating units would be set up in the first phase.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to be fair and quick in allotment of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants for the state.
“The PSA plants are meant to enable the hospitals to make oxygen out of the air in the environment, and are a great apparatus for a hospital needing to serve patients in dire need of oxygen,” read the letter.
In her letter to the PM, the TMC chief said the state, which was scheduled to get 70 PSA plants, has now been intimated that four such oxygen generating units would be set up in the first phase. She also complained of lack of clarity in the intimation about the remaining plants.
Mamata accused the Centre of delaying supply of PSA plants, following which the state government failed to set up proper infrastructure to meet the requirement of excess oxygen for critical Covid-19 patients.
She wrote, “GOI apparently has been contemplating to supply PSA plants to hospitals in states. But the matter is not progressing much. Priorities are being fixed and re-fixed, implementing agencies (DRDO, NHAI) are being settled and unsettled, quota for West Bengal is being downwardly revised and further downwardly revised every day. We were told we shall get 70 PSA plants, now we are told that we shall get 4 in the first phase with no clarity on the remaining PSA plants!”
She added, “Kindly get the priorities, implementing agencies and quota fixed, fairly and quickly. Our own supplementary PSA installation plans by our state agencies and on the strength of our own funds are getting disturbed because of indecisiveness at Delhi.”
