While everyone else was busy feeling compassion for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following their bombshell Oprah interview, Piers Morgan accused them of lying—the fallout of which resulted in him quitting his job. And now the former ITV host and frequent critic of the Sussexes claims he’s been sent messages on behalf of the royal family, thanking him for “standing up” for them amid Meghan and Harry’s interview.
“I’ve had some messages communicated to me on behalf on several members of the Royal Family,” Piers told Extra, via The Sun. “I’m not going to go into who it was… but what I would say is, gratitude that somebody was standing up for them.”
Piers stepped away from his job at Good Morning Britain shortly after storming off set mid-episode, with a spokesperson for the show saying “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
