Phillip Schofield holds hands with wife Stephanie on night out with Boy George

Phillip Schofield and his estranged wife Stephanie Lowe held hands on a rare night out to celebrate their good friend Kelly Hoppen’s CBE.

The couple are not often photographed together, but have remained close despite Phillip's decision to come out as gay in February 2020.

On Tuesday night the pair, who share two adult daughters, were seen smiling happily as they mingled with celebrity friends including Boy George at the exclusive London restaurant, Langan’s Brasserie.

This Morning frontman Phillip, 59, looked slick in light grey blazer, dark trousers and a black roll neck, while Stephanie, 57, wore a teal silk shirt, paired with black trousers and a long black coat on the cold London night.

Fellow guest Boy George was sporting one of his famous large hats, making it the second time in a week that Phil’s view was interrupted by the music legend.

The ex Culture Club frontman was seated in-front of Phillip at the filming of An Audience with Adele.

Taking it in good humour Phillip posted an image to Instagram with the caption “Not again.” The image shows Boy George wearing a large bowler hat, sticking his tongue out and raising his eyebrows, so at least the pair are able to laugh about it.

Earlier in the day the party’s host, interior designer Kelly Hoppen, had been presented with her CBE by The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle

Phillip and Stephanie share two daughters, Molly, 28 and Ruby, 25, and have remained close friends despite Phil coming out as gay in 2020.

Talking to The Mirror, Phil previously explained that he and Steph have no plans to divorce.

Discussing their relationship Phil said: “We’re picking our way through. It’s a work in progress.

Adding: “I’m still married to Steph. With divorce… we’ve not discussed that at all.”

The couple met when Steph was working as a TV production assistant for the BBC and married at Ackergill Tower in Scotland in March 1993.

The pair had been married for almost 27 years when Phillip made the announcement that he was gay.

In his autobiography Life’s What You Make It, Phil states: I didn’t know I was gay when I married Steph. If I had, I wouldn’t have got married.”

Phil’s been hugely complimentary of Steph’s support, frequently describing her as “incredible”. He’s also been open about his concerns for her wellbeing, talking to Chris Evans for his podcast How to Wow he said: It’s not in my nature to hurt people.

“How is it possible to come out and not hurt your wife. It isn’t. My greatest concern is her.”
