At least six dead as wildfires blaze across Hawaiian island of Maui

Nick Lachey has shared a touching message to the people of Maui as devastating wildfires continue to rage through the historic town of Lahaina in Hawaii.

The Love is Blind host took to Instagram on Thursday (August 10) to share his “thoughts and prayers” for the people in Maui, who have been affected by the ongoing ordeal, as he shared ways his fans and followers can help out.

Nick, 49, posted two images truly showcasing the destruction the wildfires have caused, with one snap showing a comparison of the town before and after flames ripped through it.

Alongside the pics, Nick wrote a lengthy caption to express his sympathy: “Thoughts and prayers go out to all affected on Maui as they battle these incredibly destructive wildfires.

“While the resilience of the Hawaiian people is legendary, this tragedy will take time and resources to rebuild from,” he added.

The TV personality then noted how his 985,000 followers can help the Maui people, explaining: “I’ve put a link in my bio, please help if you can.”

Nick also shared his post to his Instagram Stories and included the link, which takes people to a website allowing them to donate money and resources to Hawaii.

His wife, Vanessa Lachey has also spoken out about the dire situation.

The NCIS Hawaii star took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday to also appeal to fans for help, as she too shared her concerns for the Hawaiin people.

The actress revealed she has been left “heartbroken by the devesting images and stories coming out of Maui” as she shared various ways her followers can help and can keep up to date with the horrific situation.

The death toll from the devastating wildfires has now climbed to 55, with officials warning that the loss of life is expected to rise further.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green revealed around 1,000 people are still unaccounted for, as he said that the Aloha State is heading for its deadliest disaster in state history as fires continue to rip through the once-quaint town.

Richard Bissen, who is the Mayor of Maui, said: “It’s all gone. None of it’s there. It’s all burnt to the ground,” referring to the fact over 1,700 buildings and billions of dollars in property have so far been destroyed by the flames.
