MAFS Matt ‘told to leave’ reunion after ‘hostile and aggressive’ behaviour, claim co-stars

Married At First Sight UK’s Matt Murray was “told to leave” the second half of this week’s reunion after “hostile” behaviour, multiple stars of the show have alleged to OK!.

According to Matt's cast mates, he “lost control” during the reunion dinner party, in scenes which were not aired on the E4 show. He then “wasn’t allowed” to stay for the whole of the second day of filming, which saw this year’s couples sit down with the experts for one last time.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson – the only couple from this year’s series to have gone the distance – detailed Matt’s behaviour and said that the reunion’s 8pm airtime meant the dinner party’s most explosive moments ended up on the cutting room floor.

Zoe said: “Matt’s behaviour wasn’t okay. I think the next day [with the experts] they said he could stay for his bit and then he had to leave.

“That’s why he was called up first and then he had to leave after. Then he had to apologise and I don’t think his apology made much sense because his behaviour [on screen] wasn’t that bad, but it was that bad.

“We all saw the extent of it then and there, but viewers didn’t see it. It was general aggression.”

Jenna then agreed he was "aggressive" as Zoe added: "He was involved in everybody’s business. I think he lost control.”

She continued: “I think the episode that you saw wasn’t a true reflection of the dinner party that happened.

“They had to create an episode cutting out the swearing. There were just hundreds of arguments going on and it was chaos.”

The couple added that they have not spoken to their co-star since the reunion was filmed months ago.

Thomas Hartley – who clashed with Matt numerous times during this year’s action-packed series – said: “I think Matt wasn’t allowed to stay because he displayed very hostile behaviour towards another cast member.

“One thing I’ll categorically say is this…there was so much more that went on.”

A representative for E4 confirmed to OK! that a “verbal disagreement” which wasn’t aired took place at the dinner party and refused to deny that Matt was removed from the reunion.

They said: “The wellbeing of the cast and crew is our utmost priority at all times, throughout production and beyond.

“During the reunion dinner party, a verbal disagreement occurred off camera. All involved were offered support and were happy to continue filming the reunion episodes.”

Matt’s representative has claimed he chose to leave the day with the experts of his own accord and in a statement issued to OK!, they took aim at Thomas.

When contacted about the outspoken Liverpudlian’s claim, they told us: “The reunion episode showed how Thomas is quite the fantasist when it comes to stirring up drama.

“We all watched him apologise to Chanita, Jess and April due to his lies that he dragged on over episodes.

“Matt actually left due to his mum not being well and the emotional moment on the couch with Whitney proved too much and he became very upset.

“Thomas is the last person Matt would confide in over these things as he’s well aware he would then use it against him. But it seems he didn’t need to tell him, as Thomas has made up a reason.”

Filming is now underway for a MAFS UK Christmas reunion – though numerous stars from this year’s series will not be taking part.

OK! understands the episode will feature couples from the two most recent MAFS UK series. Matt is missing as he’s jetted off to Turkey and did not want to “relive the emotional turmoil from the show”.

Matt’s wife Gemma, who he left in order to pursue a relationship with Whitney Hughes, has also told fans that she won’t feature in the episodes.

Her representative told Metro: “Gemma was intending on attending the Christmas reunion as she was asked to be part of the cast but after the show airing and seeing how they edited her she has since decided to not work with Channel 4 again.”
