Lizzo: If you see me, stay six feet away, this sh-t is coming back

Lizzo posted a PSA to Instagram on Wednesday, before the CDC recommended masks again, saying that she’s going to be “slightly rude” to people and that they shouldn’t take it personally. She said whether someone is vaccinated or not they still have to stay six feet away from her. I think she’s mainly referring to fans and new people , because she explained that people are running up to her and that she’s not being a rude celebrity by backing away. She said she has to stay safe and healthy for her friends, family and the team she works with. We’ve seen how much more transmissible and deadly the Delta variant is, particularly to younger unvaccinated people. There are breakthrough infections which can still be serious too. Lizzo helped me feel so much better about my hesitancy around other people and I wanted to talk about it. Here’s some of what she said and the video is below.

I don’t care who you are. You could be the nicest person. You could be vaccinated. You could be quadruple vaccinated. If you see me, please give me six feet. This sh-t is coming back. COVID. And people being real sloppy with personal space.

I’m nice, but this virus has me acting up. I’m going to be mean.

I love y’all and I want y’all to be the same way. Protect yourselves. Y’all taking your vitamin D and your vitamin C? Wear your masks.

I love ya’ll we can have a whole moment from six feet away.

[Sings] I do not want y’all in my personal space. I ain’t trying to catch no covid today. You get Lysol if you up in my face. Give me distance bitch get out of my face, back back.

I’m kidding but I’m not kidding. Please be safe. I know we’re outside and people are back but it’s spreading and we don’t know details about this. We don’t know if vaccinated people are giving it to vaccinated people but vaccinated people are getting it.

I’m not being rude I’m trying to protect my mother, I’m trying to protect my team. It’s not you, it’s me. Until this is cleared up and we know WTF this variant is and we know who and what it affects, stay safe y’all.

I honestly felt so empowered watching this and she cracked me up too. I went hiking with a group on Sunday. When we were carpooling over to the trail I was the only one who asked vaccination status before getting in a car with people. By doing this I was also singled out as the only person who felt “uncomfortable” with unvaccinated people. I DGAF when any one of those people could have made me seriously ill. Everyone was vaccinated except a younger woman who said she would wear a mask no problem and an older woman who said she wasn’t vaccinated, wasn’t going to wear a mask and who later said something about “toxins.” Neither rode with me and I completely avoided that one bitch. I didn’t have to work at it much because she was the slowest person and gave up early. On Friday I was supposed to go to an outdoor potluck but I just RSVPed no because I don’t know everyone’s status. As Lizzo says “I’m nice, but this virus has me acting up.” These people can GTFO with their bullsh-t Facebook reasoning for not getting vaccinated. I’m not getting into it with them, just stay the hell away from me. Maybe they’re not going to kill me, but they can still make me sick. Plus as Lizzo said vaccinated people can still get it, even if we’re much less likely to.

Here’s that video. The part where she sings is at 4 minutes in. She should make this the refrain to a song! I love it.
