Doctor Who has returned to the BBC with John Bishop among the cast of the new series. However, the comedian recently told Express.co.uk and other media how he found himself in trouble after a stunt on the show.
John plays Dan Lewis in the hit show, who is one of the companions to Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor.
The actor has admitted it took him a little bit of time to learn how they filmed the show.
Speaking at the recent series launch, he opened up about a stunt that went wrong.
John said: “The problem was I was all excited about being on the TARDIS.
“Then on the first day, there was a movement of the TARDIS and it just said, ‘Throw yourself’.
“So I literally threw myself. And they were like, ‘What are you doing?
“‘There’s no crash mat, we haven’t got a stunt double, we haven’t done a risk assessment.
“‘You’re just meant to wobble and the camera wobbles.’
“And then Chris [Chibnall] was like, ‘Well you’re going to have to do it 12 times now.’”
Elsewhere, John also admitted how he kept his new role secret from Bradley Walsh, who previously appeared on the series.
He added: “When I was at Soccer Aid, I knew it was happening but he didn’t.
“So I didn’t tell him.
“I just sat with him and had breakfast and asked him a load of questions so he thought I was the biggest Whovian ever.
“He was like, ‘I didn’t know you were a big Doctor Who fan?’
“And I was like, ‘Yeah, what’s the set like? What’s Cardiff like?’”
However, John then added: “I told him afterwards just before it was announced and I think he had a slight inkling.”
The latest episode of the show will air later tonight as the series reaches its halfway point.
The synopsis for the latest outing reads: “’Time is beginning to run wild.’
“On a planet that shouldn’t exist, in the aftermath of apocalypse, the Doctor, Dan, Yaz and Vinder face a battle to survive.”
Doctor Who airs on Sundays at 6.30pm on BBC One.
