Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in early June 2021, starting with this unexpected coupling… Kanye West spent his 44th birthday (June 8) with Irina Shayk in Provence, France. (See photos here.) According to TMZ, the duo, who were first linked in late May, are “100% romantically together,” though “it’s unclear how serious they are at this point.” According to a People magazine source, the rapper started “pursuing” the model — whom he’s known “professionally for years” — “a few weeks ago.” They reportedly “hung out” in New York City before celebrating his birthday together in France. “Kanye is a persuasive guy,” said the source, noting that Irina “seems smitten” and “happily accepted” the father of four’s invitation to join him in France. “They are not officially dating, but there is an interest from both sides,” added the insider. An Us Weekly source, however, claims that the pair are “dating” and have been “quietly seeing each other” for much longer — “a couple months.” Said a second Us Weekly source, “Irina and Kanye have been spending time together and [are] getting to know one another. He’s always thought she was beautiful and they’re both looking forward to seeing where this goes.” Yet another Us Weekly insider said Kanye’s ex, Kim Kardashian, is aware of the burgeoning romance and “doesn’t mind” because she appreciates Irina’s apparent discretion. According to the source, the reality star “wouldn’t like” if her estranged husband moved on with someone “who’s going to talk to the press.” However, Kim “saw how quiet and respectful Irina was” after she and her former long-term partner, Bradley Cooper, called it quits in 2019.

Meanwhile, the cracks in Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s now-defunct marriage were on full display on the June 3 episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which was filmed before she filed for divorce in February. “I honestly can’t do this anymore. I can’t,” she said through tears. “Why am I still in this, like, place where I’m stuck for years? Like, he goes and moves to a different state every year. I have to be together so I can raise the kids, you know? And he’s an amazing dad, he’s done an amazing job. … I think he deserves someone that can go support his every move and go follow him all over the place and move to Wyoming — I can’t do that. He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him and does everything — and I can’t. I feel like a f****** failure. It’s, like, a third f****** marriage. Yeah, I feel like a f****** loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy.” During another point in the episode, the mother of four — who was previously married to Damon Thomas and to Kris Humphries — told sister Khloe Kardashian of her marriage with Kanye, “I won’t live with the fighting and stuff.” Four days after the episode aired, E! News reported that, according to a source, Kim “gets upset” thinking about her divorce playing out on the show. “It’s a lot for her to take in when she’s reminded of it,” said the source. “She has her ups and downs, especially when she thinks back to happy times with Kanye. … It is sad for her at times to think about the kids having to deal with their parents being split. She tries to put everything behind her and is truly focused on herself, the kids and her future plans.” The insider also noted that Kim has “definitely” moved on from the relationship, is generally doing well and believes it’s for the best she’s not currently in communication with her ex. According to a second E! source, Kim hasn’t started dating again yet: “She would like to find someone down to earth and normal,” said the source. “That hasn’t happened yet. She’s not in a rush and is happy being single. Eventually she would like to find someone again but it has to be the right person.”

Us Weekly reported on June 9 that, according to a source, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez “are very much in love.” Said the source, “They love being together and the weekends away they had been spending together have really sealed the deal. Friends say they can see them staying together forever this time around. They are soulmates and always have been.” According to the insider, the duo are only taking things slow because they don’t want to affect their children from previous relationships. “Ben is great with kids and that is what really rekindled J.Lo’s attraction to him. She saw how well he treated and interacted with her kids and fell back in love with him,” added the source. On June 4, the singer-actress was seen touring “at least one” school in the Los Angeles area, indicating she and her twin children are gearing up to spend more time in the city Ben calls home. While J.Lo’s school tour prompted plenty of speculation that she could be moving in with her beau, it’s more plausible the move is the result of her various work commitments in Hollywood. Meanwhile, a second Us Weekly source said that Ben’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, has given her “seal of approval” to the “Hustlers” star. “J.Lo thinks Jennifer is a kind and wonderful person and an amazing mother,” added the insider.

News confirmed that the “Riverdale” co-stars are officially dating again after partying ways in the fall of 2019. “The break was nice for them and they reconnected on set of ‘Riverdale,'” said a source. “Being around all of their mutual friends and hanging out together often made them realize they still have a strong connection and chemistry. They care a lot about each other and have a bond from filming together for so many hours each day. … It’s going well and they aren’t putting too much stress on the relationship.” During the break in their romance, Camila dated photographer Grayson Vaughan for about a year. They called it quits earlier this year.
Earlier this month, there were reports that Trevor Noah and Minka Kelly were “not officially back together” as they worked on “figuring things out” in their relationship. On June 7, however, Us Weekly reported that, according to a source, they’ve “been on and off” but are now officially “back together.” Said the source, “They realized they’re both happier being together than apart. … They already went on vacation together and are spending a lot of time together. They’re working on their relationship while just enjoying each other’s company.” Still, “it’s not like they’re rushing down the aisle any time soon,” noted the insider.
E! News reported on June 2 that, according to a source, Khloe Kardashian is “standing by” her back-on beau, Tristan Thompson, in the wake of new allegations he was unfaithful and also welcomed a child with another woman. “Khloe is not leaving him,” said the source. “[She] obviously gets upset when rumors are spread about Tristan being unfaithful, but the dust has settled a bit and they are still together.” The insider added that the reality star believes the professional basketball player has been “faithful” to her — although that hasn’t always been the case. According to the source, the off-and-on couple are focused on their plans to expand their family: “They are hoping to give True a baby brother, but ultimately want a healthy baby,” said the source.

During an interview for the cover of the July/August 2021 issue of Shape magazine, which debuted online on June 7, Shailene Woodley revealed that she moved in with Aaron Rodgers not long after they first started dating. “Starting a relationship where you immediately move in with someone — because it’s a pandemic and you can’t just get on a plane and go back and forth on weekends — taught us a lot about each other very quickly,” she said, adding that they “jumped in headfirst and got some of the sticky bits out of the way early.” Continued the actress, “I have the perspective that I would have met Aaron in any context, any space in time, because I feel we were meant to be together.” The duo revealed they’re engaged earlier this year.
During an interview with Kaley Cuoco for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series that debuted online on June 8, Elizabeth Olsen casually revealed she’s married. The “WandaVision” star referenced a book in her home and noted that her “husband” put it on display. “He’s such a f****** cutie,” she added. Back in July 2019, People magazine reported that Elizabeth and longtime love Robbie Arnett were engaged, though the Marvel actress never confirmed the news. It’s unclear when exactly she and the Milo Greene frontman tied the knot.
Sienna Miller was snapped holding hands with businessman Archie Keswick — who serves as a board member for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group International Limited — when they stepped out for lunch in New York City on June 1. Five days later, they were photographed holding hands again during another outing in NYC. (See photos here.) On June 8, TMZ broke the news that Lindsey Buckingham’s wife of more than two decades, photographer Kristen Messner, recently filed to divorce the former Fleetwood Mac singer-guitarist in Los Angeles. The duo share two adult children, as well as 17-year-old daughter Stella, so it’s unlikely they’ll be facing off in court over child support or custody issues as part of their divorce.
On the June 7 episode of Steven Bartlett’s “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, Liam Payne revealed that he and Maya Henry recently called it quits. “I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people,” he said of the breakup. “That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships. And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point. I’m just not very good at them, so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.” He went on to say that he feels “better” about things in the wake of the breakup, though he noted it “didn’t feel good” hurting his former love. “I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore — [a version] that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being. I can honestly say I feel better out of [the relationship],” he continued. “I didn’t feel good doing what I did but it had to happen. Just a corny way to say it was the best for us both.” The duo got engaged in mid-2020 after two years of coupledom.
On the June 7 episode of his “The FADER Uncovered” podcast,” Mark Ronson confirmed recent rumors that he and Grace Gummer are set to wed: “I got engaged last weekend,” he said. Early last year, Meryl Streep’s actress daughter filed to divorce her first husband, Tay Strathairn, after just 42 days of marriage. On June 3, Falynn Guobadia took to Instagram to tease her first interview addressing her estranged husband Simon Guobadia’s whirlwind engagement to her “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Porsha Williams. “Simon doesn’t get caught unless Simon wants to be caught. … I meant what I said when I took my vows. … It hurts. It hurts like hell. … I love hard. I love really hard,” she says in the preview clip. When Simon caught wind of the interview, he bit back in a since-deleted Instagram post alleging that Falynn cheated on him and is now expecting a baby with an Atlanta entrepreneur with whom she had an affair. “The Face of Cheating Wife…Let’s start with why I filed for divorce,” he wrote. Three days later, he shared the receipts: security camera footage of Falynn’s alleged lover arriving at their marital home while Simon was out of town. “Tell me how many husbands or wives should tolerate this type of behavior from their spouse. I filed for divorce a second time AFTER this video. She got a baby to prove that she was actively cheating,” Simon alleged in the since-deleted post. (Check out a screen recording here.)
On June 7, Page Six broke the news that Lena Dunham is dating Peruvian-English musician Attawalpa (real name: Luis Felber). They reportedly met in London and have been dating “for the past few months.” Back in April, the “Girls” alum told The New York Times she’d been seeing a musician who was raised in England and Peru for “a few months,” though she stopped short of identifying him at the time. She’s since promoted Attawalpa’s music and interviews on her own social media accounts, indicating he’s the lucky guy. (See him here.)
5 Seconds of Summer singer Luke Hemmings took to Instagram on June 8 to announce that he and Sierra Deaton — who won the third and final season of the American version of “The X Factor” with then-boyfriend Alex Kinsey in 2013 — are engaged. “With shaking hands but a full heart I proposed to my best friend earlier this year. I love you Thao and I can’t imagine my life without you,” he captioned a slideshow of photos of himself and his love, whom he referred by her middle name. The bride-to-be, meanwhile, captioned her own slideshow of photos announcing their engagement, “It was fun keeping this a secret for so long, but my heart is nearly bursting at the seams. Can’t wait for forever.”
Frankie Grande proposed to his boyfriend of two years, Hale Leon, at Dreamscape — a venue for immersive virtual reality experiences — in Los Angeles on June 8. According to People magazine, the “Big Brother” alum popped the question amid a custom VR experience he created in collaboration with Dreamscape. “It was such a perfect, beautiful moment,” he gushed. “Hale was completely surprised and we both started crying tears of joy. I have been working on proposing to him in virtual reality for over a year and it was ABSOLUTELY breathtaking for us both.” The duo met in 2019 at a line dancing bar in Los Angeles. According to Frankie, it was “love at first dance.”

“Duck Dynasty” star Bella Robertson married Jacob Mayo in West Monroe, Louisiana, on June 5. “6.5.21 was easily the best day of my life. I love you forever and ever,” the bride captioned a slideshow of wedding photos on Instagram. The duo got engaged in November 2020 after just six months of coupledom.
“Today” star Al Roker’s daughter, Courtney Roker, married Wesley Laga at The Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, on June 4. “Last night was beyond anything I could ever imagine. Now on to the honeymoon,” the bride captioned a slideshow of photos from her nuptials on Instagram.
On June 3, People magazine broke the news that country music singers Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan got engaged during his concert at Nashville’s Whiskey Jam on Memorial Day, which also marked their sixth anniversary. “[It] was a true surprise and it was absolutely perfect,” gushed the bride-to-be. Said Jay, “I never wanted to press the idea of marriage. I never wanted it to feel like, ‘Oh, this is the next thing that we have to do.’ I wanted it to feel right. But for the last year, with the pandemic and everything, we spent so much time together. It was a ‘make or break’ for a lot of people, but for us, it was thankfully a ‘make.'” Kylie, however, knew they were destined for marriage: “From the time I literally saw him walking down the stairs six years ago … I knew he was going to be my husband. There was never a doubt,” she said.
On the June 3 episode of the “People in the ’90s” podcast, Elizabeth Hurley opened up about the secret to her long-lasting friendship with former long-term partner Hugh Grant: “I’m still extremely good friends with Hugh,” she said. “We went through so much together. But I’ve been thinking, one of the most important things to keep good relations with your exes is to have a lot of respect for their current life. We haven’t been romantically involved for 20 years, I think, even though we have such a strong friendship. But we’re always very aware that there are other people in our lives. There’s partners, there’s children. You can’t just, sort of, live in a lovely, rosy, mist of the past. You have to move with the times and be very respectful of the present, which we are.” The duo met in 1987 and dated for 13 years.
