Chris Evans, 54, has always been very open about what medical procedures he has undergone in the past, and most recently he was absent from his Virgin Radio show for two weeks while he had kidney stone surgery. But he cheekily suggested to his co-stars that the operation might have all been a “ruse” for him to sneak off and have a hair transplant instead.
What if my kidney stone was all a ruse and I actually went off completely illegally, completely un-Covid compliant, to have a hair transplant in Dublin?

The radio DJ has spoken about his battle with hair loss before and how he is addressing the condition with medication, after his once famed full head of ginger hair turned white, and he began to suffer from male pattern baldness.
He told listeners in the past that he had considered a hair transplant on numerous occasions, but opted for different methods instead, such as using what he calls hair loss “drops” to help regrow his thinning locks.
But on Wednesday’s show, he was over the moon that his hair seemed to have had a new lease of life and suggested to his colleagues that maybe he went down the transplant route after all.
“What if my kidney stone was all a ruse and I actually went off completely illegally, completely un-Covid compliant, to have a hair transplant in Dublin?” he said to Rachel Horne and Vassos Alexander.
“Because look what’s happened to my hair!”
Rachel peered over and congratulated him: “It’s lovely” she beamed, as Chris paraded around the studio.
“Look at it!” he exclaimed.
“There’s loads of it!”
There was a pause as Chris admired his locks that he used to “have to monitor on a daily basis”, before adding: “I mean OK, there isn’t loads of it but there’s more of it than I ever thought there would be again.
“I think something’s happened,” he grinned.
He was joking of course, as Chris actually did undergo an operation to have three kidney stones removed.

And while he may not have chosen the hair transplant option just yet, it’s definitely been something he keeps considering.
Chris previously discussed the procedure with his listeners, after one text in and asked him his thoughts on the matter since learning of his male pattern baldness.
“Please could you tell me your thoughts on hair transplants in men,” Chris read aloud, before bursting out laughing.
“Might as well!” he exclaimed as the listener admitted they were feeling “dubious”.
“If you go to the right people it’s fine and it does work!” the former BBC star reassured them.
“I have friends who’ve done it. I’ve not done it, but I’ve often thought about it,” he confessed.
“But I get my pills and my lotion and it’s alright for now, things are just about clinging on,” he joked.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
