The BBC comedy starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who has since joined the Star Wars franchise and dazzled audiences with spy thriller Killing Eve, was an instant hit and renewed for a second run almost immediately back in August 2017.
“I can’t believe they let me do this again,” enthused Waller-Bridge. ”I’m so happy to be back with the incredible Fleabag team and I’m as surprised as anyone about where this series has taken us.”
Shane Allen, controller of comedy commissioning at the BBC, added: “The series two scripts are knockout – sparkling with Phoebe’s unique voice that combines a whip smart complexity of character with pin sharp funny lines scattered everywhere.”

We don’t know about you but we are counting down the days until its release. So, when can we expect it? Here’s everything you need to know about Fleabag season 2.
Fleabag season 2 release date: When is it out?
The BBC have promised fans it’ll hit screens in 2019 – filming began back in August so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for an early release date. We’d go as far as saying that February could be on the cards.
Fleabag season 2 cast: Who’s in it?
Obviously, Fleabag wouldn’t be Fleabag without its leading lady, the immensely talented Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Also returning will be Olivia Colman (Godmother), Sian Clifford (Claire), Bill Paterson (Dad), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo) and Hugh Skinner (Harry).
Sadly, it looks like Hugh Dennis won’t be back as the sleazy Bank Manager. He revealed in June that he didn’t know whether he would be in the series, but despite seeming up for a return, Dennis doesn’t feature on the official announcement.
But before you vow to boycott the series forever, Sherlock legend Andrew Scott will be joining the show in an unspecified role.
Is Fleabag finally going to find her Prince Charming? After everything she’s been through, it’s the very least she deserves.
Fleabag season 2 trailer: when can I watch it?
As it stands, there isn’t currently a trailer available, but you will be the first to know when there is.
So in the meantime, let’s relive all the best bits from season 1 because you can never have enough Waller-Bridge in your life.
Fleabag season 2 on Amazon: where can I watch it?
For those of us in the UK, Fleabag’s second season will feature on BBC Three via the BBC iPlayer.
But if you’re residing overseas, Amazon Prime is your go-to. The best things in life don’t always come for free, folks.
Fleabag season 2 plot: what will happen?
Earlier this year, producer Lydia Hampson revealed that the second series would not “retread old ground”.
“The whole of the first series, it was a façade,” she teased. “Fleabag was shiny and prim on top, but you didn’t know she was grieving underneath it all. In that last episode, we saw she was broken. We can’t go back to pretending she’s fine again.”
Shane Allen added: “The themes of this series are very distinct from the first series which delivers on the challenge Phoebe set herself. It’s a superb team and cast from top to bottom and with Fleabag you can never escape a reference to the bottom.”
