Darshan sizzles in tense draw

A tense match between Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Mumbai) and Canara Bank (Bengaluru) ended in a 3-3 draw in the Bengaluru Super Division hockey league here on Saturday.

IOCL’s Talwinder Singh got down on one knee to smash a reverse-hit into the goal in the fifth minute.

A lovely touch by Sunny Malik off a powerful hit by V.R. Raghunath gave IOCL a 2-0 lead.

Canara Bank’s D.S. Darshan then made it 2-1 from a penalty-corner. Talwinder recorded a brace, before Darshan completed a fine hat-trick with two more goals from penalty-corners.

In the second match, Army XI (Bangalore) held SAI All-India to a 1-1 draw.

The results: IOCL, Mumbai 3 (Talwinder Singh 5, 42, Sunny Malik 27) drew with Canara Bank, Bengaluru 3 (D.S. Darshan 35, 40, 62).

Army XI, Bangalore 1 (Sanjay Toppo 37) drew with SAI, All-India 1 (M. Rajendra 4).
