Two senior engineers from the Goa government visited the Kalasa-Banduri Nala work site in Kanakumbi in Khanapur taluk on Tuesday. The work site near the mouth of the Malaprabha is part of the Mahadayi irrigation project.
This follows a statement from the Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that he suspected Karnataka was drawing water from the Kalasa Nala, before it emptied into the Mahadayi. On Monday, he alleged that the neighbouring State was pumping water from the Nala to the Malaprabha. The Mahadayi River Water Tribunal is expected to deliver an order on August 20 this year.
