Amidst mounting pressure from legislators of both the Congress and Janata Dal (S), the coalition government is expected to complete the appointment of chairpersons for 30 boards and corporations in a day or two.
In the first phase, the five-member coordination committee, headed by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Sunday discussed the names of 30 legislators and leaders to be appointed as heads of these bodies.
Coordination committee convener Danish Ali told presspersons that the committee discussed the issues related to appointments to boards and corporations. Chairpersons of government boards/corporations would be appointed on Monday, he said.
Already legislators of both parties are vying for posts of chairpersons of profit-making bodies owned by the government.
On Sunday, legislators and former legislators of the Congress met AICC general secretary in charge of the State K.C. Venugopal and urged him to consider their candidature for the posts of chiefs of boards and corporations.
Out of the 30, the Congress would make appointment for 19 boards and corporations and rest would be made by JD (S).
Meanwhile, sources said the Cabinet expansion would take place after the legislature session, which is starting on Monday. The nine-day session ends on July 12.
Several Congress leaders met Mr. Venugopal and discussed the issues related to the Cabinet expansion.
