A six-day old baby boy was stolen from the maternity ward of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad in the small hours of Tuesday shocking all concerned.
An unknown man is said to have stolen the baby born to Dirbasi Mamatha (25), a resident of Chorpalli village in Narnoor mandal in Adilabad district. The woman was admitted to the hospital on July 2 and delivered the baby on July 4.
Athram Sunitha, another patient in the ward on the opposite bed is reported to be the eye witness to the incident, which is said to have taken place between 2 am and 3 am.
The police has swung into action and all police stations and check posts surrounding Adilabad town have been alerted.
DSP K. Narasimha Reddy is leading a team of policemen and officials to trace the baby.
