The widely propagated image of a disciplined party with a difference went for a toss this week when BJP members, who are expected to meekly obey the ruling duo’s firmans, erupted in rage at the party’s Bengal HQ in Kolkata when old-timers were denied tickets to contest the assembly election, overlooked in the leadership’s apparent eagerness to accommodate the flood of draftees from the Trinamool Congress.
Unused to such inner-party rebellion, Mr Shah read the riot act out to Bengal’s BJP leaders on Wednesday to quell the unrest quickly.
