Students find Malayalam paper easy

There was no room for confusion in questions, say teachers

The sweltering summer did not have much of an impact on the first day of the SSLC exams in the district as the students found the Malaylam paper an easy one on Wednesday.

Farha Banna, a Class 10 student from Chendamangallur Higher Secondary School, told The Hindu that she got enough time to answer all the questions. Most of the questions were easy and simple too, she said. Teachers also said that there was no room for confusion in the questions.

In view of the scorching heat, the students were allowed to take drinking water bottles inside the exam halls. School authorities had also made arrangements to provide drinking water. Though there was some confusion over the Education Department not giving permission for scribes for differently-abled students, the approval was given later. There were unconfirmed reports that answer scripts from a higher secondary school in Kayanna were found on the roadside and a school staff has been kept away from exam duty as a disciplinary action.

A total of 38,743 students from Kozhikode district are appearing for the exams at over 200 centres. The highest number of students are from Thamarassery educational district – 15,228. There are 14,176 students from Kozhikode educational district and 9,339 from Vadakara educational district. Of them, 18, 561 are boys and 20,182 are girls.
