Share/Stock Market LIVE Updates: The frontline equity indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange trimmed their day’s gains and were moving in a narrow range during the late afternoon session on Tuesday.

At 2:51 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 62.38 points (0.11 per cent) at 58,240.14 while the Nifty 50 was up 21.40 points (0.12 per cent) at 17,376.70.

IndusInd Bank, HCL Tech, Kotak Bank, Bajaj Auto, L&T and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers during the afternoon trade while Nestle, Ultratech, HDFC HUL and Tata Steel were among the laggards.

Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty Media index was trading over 13 per cent higher led by a surge in Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The Nifty IT index too was up nearly 1 per cent led by HCL Tech and Coforge.

The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 58,247.09, up 69.33 points or 0.12 per cent, while the Nifty 50 settled at 17,380.00, up 24.70 points or 0.14 per cent.

The wholesale inflation across the country rose to 11.39 per cent in August, the data released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed.

The wholesale price index (WPI) grew 11.16 per cent during the month of July, while the WPI for June was 12.07 per cent, the data showed. The WPI in August 2020 was at 0.41 per cent. Click here to read

Shares of Vijaya Diagnostic Centre made a tepid debut in the stock exchanges today listing at around 2 per cent higher than their issue price.

The scrip got listed at Rs 542.30 apiece on the BSE, thereby registering a gain of 2.13 per cent from its offer price of Rs 531, while on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), it opened at Rs 540.00, up 1.70 per cent from the issue price. Click here to read

The Indian rupee appreciated 7 paise to 73.61 against the US dollar in opening trade on Tuesday, tracking a positive trend in domestic equities and sustained foreign fund inflows.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 73.62 against the dollar, then edged higher to 73.61, up 7 paise over its previous close.

In initial deals, the local unit touched a low of 73.65 against the American currency.

Shares of Ami Organics made a strong debut on the stock exchanges today listing at over 49 per cent higher than their issue price.

The scrip got listed at Rs 910.00 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), thereby registering a gain of 49.18 per cent from its offer price of Rs 610.00, while on the BSE, it opened at Rs 902.00, up 47.87 per cent from the issue price. Click here to read

Ami Organics shares list at 49% on NSE. The scrip got listed at Rs 910 apiece against an issue price of Rs 610.

Asia’s share markets were mixed and the dollar held steady on Tuesday, with investors awaiting US inflation data for more clues on when the Federal Reserve will taper stimulus.

China’s tightening grip on its technology companies and a widening liquidity crisis for the country’s most indebted developer continued to keep investors on edge in early trade.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.13%.

Australia’s S&P/ASX200 fell 0.31% to 7,400.8, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dipped into negative territory.

China’s blue-chip CSI300 index was down 0.2% and Tokyo’s Nikkei traded 0.72% higher.

On Monday, the benchmark equity indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended marginally lower weighed by market heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) and ICICI Bank.

The S&P BSE Sensex fell 127.31 points (0.22 per cent) to end at 58,177.76, while the Nifty 50 slipped 13.95 points (0.08 per cent) to settle at 17,355.30.
