Kumar Vishwas settles defamation case with Jaitley

‘CM instigated to make false charges’

AAP leader Kumar Vishwas settled a criminal defamation case filed against him by Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

Other AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have already settled the case with Mr. Jaitley by tendering unconditional apologies to the Minister.

Mr. Jaitley had filed the complaint when these leaders levelled certain allegations against him in connection with the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Apology letter

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal allowed counsel for Mr. Jaitley, Manoj Taneja and Manik Dogra, to withdraw the complaint of his client when counsel for Mr. Vishwas submitted an apology letter, written by Mr. Vishwas to Mr. Jaitley, to the court.

In his apology letter, Mr. Vishwas said, “I state that Arvind Kejriwal, as our party chief and convener, had lied to us and instigated us to make these falseinstigated us against you. It was only at the specific instance of Arvind that I had made these allegations against you and your family members.”

“In view of the above, without any reservation, I unequivocally withdraw all the defamatory and baseless allegations made by me against you and your family members…. I also offer my sincere apology to you and your family members for the harm caused to your reputation as a consequence of these false and baseless allegations,” the letter further said.
