Awareness programmes to help trade and industry comply with the rules
The Coimbatore Commissionerate of GST and Central Excise received revenue of ₹8844.33 crore between July 2017 and March this year from CGST, SGST and IGST collection. The Central Excise, Service Tax, and VAT collected between April 2016 and March 2017 was ₹7498.62 crore, which is a growth of 18 %.
According to a press release from the department, the commissionerate is taking steps such as awareness programmes and workshops to help the trade and industry comply with the rules. It is also joining hands with the industrial bodies for these programmes.
Monthly meetings, open house sessions, and seminars were held in different locations.
Help centres (Seva Kendra) have been set up in Coimbatore and also other locations to serve the small-scale manufacturers, service providers, exporters and importers.
A grievance redressal mechanism has been implemented. Public grievance committee and regional advisory committee meetings are held periodically at the zonal level.
The commissionerate will observe GST week from July 2 to 9 and will organise competitions for school students, the press release added.
