** In over 55 years, human intervention has managed to wipe out about 90 percent of the ocean’s top predators. This includes sharks, bluefin tuna, swordfish, marlin, and king mackerel.
** As the aquaculture industry continues to expand, prey fishes are depleting at an alarming rate. If the current trend continues, some researchers predict that the aquaculture will outgrow the supply of fishmeal as soon as 2020.
