Airtel Payments Bank on Thursday said it has received the requisite approvals from the Reserve Bank of India to start onboarding customers.
It also said the bank had been permitted by the UIDAI to resume onboarding customers using Aadhaar based e-KYC.
The development comes almost seven months after Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank came under fire for opening bank accounts for its mobile service users without their “informed consent” leading to LPG subsidies worth almost Rs. 168 crore, belonging to more than 37 lakh customers, being deposited into Airtel Payments Bank accounts.
