The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has issued fresh guidelines on selling movie tickets online. The AP government has decided to levy a 2 % commission on all AP cinema tickets sold online. The Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theater Development Corporation will sell movie tickets online
Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theater Development Corporation – APFDC will act as the nodal agency. The terms and conditions of this nodal agency must be agreed upon by all theatres in the state. Anyone who wants to see a movie in any part of Andhra Pradesh state must now purchase tickets through this gateway. Even if people buy the movie tickets through private applications, they must pay the government a 2 % commission.
The portal will open the booking slots for future releases, a week before the film hits the box office and theatres should sell tickets only through this portal whereas the multiplex chains are allowed to use 3rd party apps or portals.
Theatre management has been instructed to offer the online movie tickets 7 days before the screening of new movies. The 2 % commission would act like a good revenue source for the Andhra Pradesh government.
