Two poachers held

Two poachers were arrested on Saturday on charges of hunting wild animals.

Following complaints of the presence of poachers, the forest department had stepped up surveillance in the forests off Amaravathi and Anamalai Project Tiger Reserve areas in Coimbatore district. After sustained watch, the forest officials zeroed in on Paulraj (60) and his accomplice Ramesh (40) from Kannivadi near here and they were nabbed. Based on their confession, the forest officials raided their houses and seized leopard skins and others. The two were taken into custody for further interrogation.
