Three held on charge of snatching chain

The Karamana police have three persons in connection with many cases of chain-snatching that were recently reported in the city.

Those arrested were identified as Robin, 24, and Arun, 20, of Parassala, and Shebin, 23, of Marthandam in Kanyakumari.

They were apprehended during a vehicle-checking drive.

They have been accused of stealing a gold necklace, weighing seven sovereigns, from a woman in Azhankal. Based on the information provided by the complainant, a team led by Karamana station house officer R.S. Sreekanth launched vehicle checks and managed to detect the alleged assailants near Neeramankara.

Their attempts to escape proved futile and they were apprehended by the police team.

Upon interrogation, the accused purportedly confessed to have undertaken similar thefts in Fort, Medical College, Parassala, Pozhiyoor and Marthandam in Tamil Nadu in recent times.
