Karthikeyan (32), a cashier at the textile mill owned by the management of Christy Friedgram Industry at Andipalayam, the wholesale suppliers of eggs to the noon meal centres in the state, jumped from the first floor of his house while being questioned by the Income-Tax authorities on Friday evening.
According to police sources, the Income-Tax officials who continued searches in the properties and houses belonging to the owner and other employees of the industry, were conducting an inquiry with Karthikeyan at his house in S.K.P. Nagar.
Karthikeyan told inquiry team that he was not doing well and wanted to have a glass of water.
When the I-T personnel allowed him to move out of the room, he suddenly climbed on to the first floor and jumped from the building.
Karthikeyan suffered fractures, and after first aid at a private hospital in Tiruchengode town, he was shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore. Tiruchengode Rural Police are investigating.
