School honours toppers of Class 10 and 12

Sciencebeam Science Talent Exam Award winners and meritorious students of Class 10 and Class 12 were honoured at a function organised by the Sunbeam School recently. They were given cash awards and scholarships.

The Chairman T. Harigopalan presided over the function. Correspondent Thangaprakash and vice-chairman George Arvind headed the programme. Guests of Honour Selva Sundari S., Vellore District Judge Labour Court; Damodaran V., Principal Sub-Judge of Vellore; Kaushal K.K., Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests; and M.R. Ravi Shankar, advocate and PTA President; appreciated the winners and distributed the awards.

A cash award of Rs. 1 lakh each was awarded to Vetriselvan and Guhan, the district toppers with 1185/1200 in the Class 12 Board Exams of the Higher Secondary School. A cash award of Rs. 25,000 was awarded to Shyam Sunder, school second with 1181/1200. The 23 toppers of Matriculation X Board Exams were awarded cash awards worth Rs. 5 lakh. The 14 meritorious students of Sunbeam CBSE Class 10 were awarded cash awards worth Rs. 13 lakh.

Tickets handed over


Kalitheerthalkuppam Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology final year computer science and engineering student Farzana Begum, winner of Puducherry Youth Icon – 2017 award received the flight tickets from Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy. This includes four-day free educational trip to Singapore.

The Puducherry Youth Icon – 2017 was awarded for the contest conducted by ICT Academy of Puducherry in association with Puducherry e-Governance Society (PeGS) and Department of Information Technology, Government of Puducherry. The tickets were given in the presence of Ministers A.Namassivayam, M.O.H.F.Shahjahan and Rajasekaran, Programmer, Department of IT.

Council meeting

Academic Council Meeting X was conducted in Theivanai Ammal College for Women (Autonomous) on July 11. A.V.Arunakumari, Principal and the Chairperson of the Academic Council delivered the welcome address. Opening remarks were given by Senthil Kumar, Secretary, E.S.S.K, Educational charities. In the special address, Kasthuribai Dhanasekaran, Registrar, E.S.S.K. Educational charities highlighted the activities of the college during the Academic year 2017-18 and also the results for UG 2015-18 batch, PG 2016-18 batch and M.Phil 2017-18 batch. She presented the diploma course guidelines and revision in the existing course structure.

Engineering Olympiad

The Indian Engineering Olympiad (IEO) exam is being conducted every year for Engineering Students at National level. From IFET College of Engineering as many as 327 students secured All India Ranks among top 100. Balamurugan, National Head, Gateforum and T. Janarthanan, Assistant Manager, Marketing, Gateforum, Chennai, were the chief guests for the function and presented medals and certificates to the students.

Best Performing College Award — 2018 was presented to the Department of Civil Engineering and Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering by the chief guest.

The award was received by A. Mohamed Illyas, vice-chairman, in the presence of G. Mahendran, principal; S. Matilda, vice-principal and dean-academics, Professor J. Asha, Dean Placement and Student Affairs. Winners were congratulated by K.V. Raja, Chairman, IFET College of Engineering.

Awareness programme

Orange British Academy, a school situated at Arni to Chetpet road on July 7 conducted an awareness programme on competitive examination including NEET, IIT, CA foundation and JEE for the students of Class IX to XII. Dhamu, the renowned student trainer and the chief guest for the programme, hosted the whole programme. The programme was initiated with the lighting the lamp by Abarna Sivakumar, Vice Chairperson, K.Sivakumar, Chairman, Apoorva Sivakumar, the Managing Trustee cum Correspondent and Apinaya Sivakumar, the Trustee member of Orange Educational Institutions.

K. Senthil Kumar, the Senior Principal of the school, presented welcoming address to the dignitaries and Arasappan, the Dean of the schools, dedicated a brief introduction about the chief guest.

Next the chairman of the Orange Educational Institutions who presided over the programme while speaking insisted that meticulous care on culture, discipline and food diet would facilitate the students to succeed in all kind of competitive examinations.
