The Safe Kerala project, envisaged by the State government, is expected to reduce road accidents to 50% by 2020.
According to Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran, the project, which has already been implemented at 85 centres, has brought positive results by reducing accidents.
The project has been implemented by the government considering the proliferation of vehicles and the increased number of accidents.
The Minister was speaking on the occasion of the passing-out parade of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors at the Kerala Police Academy, Ramavarmapuram, near here on Monday.
“Stringent measures will be initiated against those who fail to follow road safety rules. Steps should be taken without fear. The rules learned from the academy should be followed while in duty,” he told the inspectors.
