Depressed over poor health, a 59-year-old retired Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly shot himself with his licensed rifle at his residence at Pragathi Nagar in Jawaharnagar on Thursday.
Police said the victim, M. Ramulu, had retired from CRPF in 2012. G.
Uday Bhaskar, sub-inspector, Jawaharnagar said Ramulu shot himself from his single bore rifle. The victim was staying with his family and for the last couple of years, was suffering from various health related issues.
“Earlier, he had suffered paralysis attack and was depressed over his ill-health and allegedly resorted to the extreme step,” Mr. Uday said, adding that they did not find any suicide note.
A case has been registered and investigations is on.
In January this year, a 51-year-old ex-serviceman resorted to similar methods of suicide at his residence in Maharaja Gunj of Doodh Bowli.
