Pune college student threatens, molests teen

Bhosari police on Thursday arrested a college student for allegedly outraging the modesty of a girl student by issuing threats, said officials.

The incident took place on Tuesday in Goyal College in Dapodi where the 18-year-old was molested by the accused identified as Pravin Kisan Salunke, 18, a resident of Officers’ Mess Quarters, College of Military Engineering (CME) in Dapodi, police said.

Bhosari police said Salunke forced the girl to come along with him by threatening to kill her sister.

Investigators said that Salunke and the victim studied in the same college wherein Salunke had told her that he liked her and was in love. “If your reject my offer then I will kill your sister,” threatened Salunke and took her for a ride at knifepoint, misbehaved with her with the intention of outraging her modesty. He even called up her father from the spot and threatened to kill him following which an FIR was lodged.

Sunil Gade, assistant police inspector (API), is investigating the case. Police officials maintained that lack of upbringing and adult supervision was the reason behind the delinquent behaviour demonstrated by Salunke.

At the same time, he was given all the facilities, like mobile phone and other luxuries, without any accountability due to which he misbehaved and resorted to criminal acts without any fear of the law.
