Policeman attacked near Tambaram

A constable attached to the Armed Police unit was attacked by an unidentified person on Sunday night near the Tambaram railway station while fending off an attempt to rob his mobile phone.

G. Gnanasekaran, 29, and M. Kalaiselvan, 33, a constable attached to the Chitalpakkam police station, were returning home on a bike to Tambaram. On reaching Tambaram Railway Station, they parked their vehicle as Mr. Gnanasekaran wanted to answer nature’s call. An unidentified youth, brandishing a knife demanded his mobile phone. When Mr. Gnanasekaran resisted, the youth stabbed him on the arm and fled.

Mr. Kalaiselvan rushed him to the Government Stanley Hospital. The Selaiyur Police have registered a case.

Tasmac staff robbed

A Tasmac staff was robbed of Rs. 4. 5 lakh by a gang, which attacked him at Atthipet Pudhunagar, in Tiruvallur district. The victim has been identified as Dhamodharan, 37, a resident of Avoor near Ponneri. He is a sales supervisor at a Tasmac outlet in Atthipet Pudhunagar. On Sunday, he was walking towards Ponneri Railway Station with the daily collection of Rs. 4.5 lakh. A bike-borne duo waylaid and attacked him. Another duo arrived and attacked him with a knife. The Minjur police have registered a case.
