Over hundred police personnel donated blood to mark the World Blood Donation Day here on Friday.
Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K. Periaiah, inaugurated the camp on the campus of the City Police Training College. Over 200 personnel from various divisions of police department donated blood, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sujith Kumar.
Personnel attached to the 4th Battalion of the Tamil Nadu Special Police and Armed Reserve Police, too, donated blood.
Similarly, Coimbatore Rural Police donated blood at Mettupalayam Government Hospital, Pollachi Government Hospital and ESI Hospital at Singanallur, following the appeal by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Medical camp held
As many as 147 persons were screened at the medical camp held at the Coimbatore Central RTO Office on Friday, said S. Udhayakumar, Regional Transport Officer.
Those who had turned up for obtaining LLR, renewal of licence and for badge to drive transport vehicles were screened, the official added.
“This is a routine process undertaken at all the RTO offices every month on a particular day, especially for those applying for obtaining badge for driving public transport vehicles,” the officer said.
