The East Godavari district administration is planning to expand the door-to-door distribution of monthly rations to the entire district, provided the trial run that launched in three villages proved successful, according to Joint Collector A. Mallikarjuna.
Addressing a review meeting with the officials of the Civil Supplies Department here on Thursday, he said that the trial run was in progress at Uppalanka Mondi of Karapa mandal and Moolapalem and Ramajinagar in Tallarevu mandal, where the ration dealers were door delivering the monthly ration to the beneficiaries.
“The dealers are expected to be polite with the beneficiaries. They have to issue receipts to the commodities delivered to each and everyone,” he said, adding that there was an immediate need to include Telugu in the e-PoS voice message, as it would reach more and more beneficiaries.
“There is an immediate need to create awareness among the beneficiaries on the use of biometrics. The beneficiaries must wash and dry their hands before appending the biometrics, and the dealers must make arrangements at the fair price shops for the hand wash,” he said, while observing that the biometric devices were unable to match the fingerprints, as the hands were unclean.
District Supplies Officer P. Prasada Rao, District Manager E.M. Jayaram, Assistant Supplies Officer Peethala Suresh and other officials were present.
