Patrolling intensified for elusive leopard

The Forest Department intensified patrolling in and around Sushilnagar in Sandur taluk on Thursday to trace a leopard that killed a youth on Wednesday.

The animal remains elusive.

“Teams have been formed to patrol the area in different directions to watch the movements of the leopard besides appealing to the people not to venture out into the forest. We have also asked villagers to be vigilant and inform the department officials if they notice the movement of the wild cat,” Deputy Conservator of Forest Ramesh Kumar told
The Hindu
on Thursday.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar also met the family of the victim and handed over the government order sanctioning Rs. 5 lakh compensation. The cheque would be handed over on Saturday by MLA E. Tukaram.
