The Thiruvananthapuram Railway Divisional Manager has said that a special committee will probe the derailing of the Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram Passenger here on Friday.
According to witnesses, train no 56307 went off the track as it was departing for Thiruvananthapuram from platform 3 in the morning.
The incident occurred owing to the alleged negligence of the loco pilot who forgot to remove the metal obstacle that is usually placed between the track and wheel of parked locomotives as a preventive measure.
According to Railways authorities, the derailment did not affect the operations of other trains.
The Passenger train resumed journey after the coaches were attached to another engine. The derailed engine was put back on track by a team from Thiruvananthapuram. There were no causalities.
