The number of people purchasing smartphones online is more in South India than rest of the country, thanks to high penetration of Internet facility, Topwise Communications Pvt. Ltd General Manager Sujith Rayirath said.
Mr. Rayirath, who was in the city on Monday to launch Comio X1 Note and Comio C1 Pro smartphones with advance features, said on an average 10 to 12 million handsets were being sold in India and the demand for mobile phones with new features was going up.
“Almost half of the population in the country use smartphones,” he said.
After entering the Indian market in May last year, he said, the Hong Kong-based company had set a target to sell three million handsets per annum from the next financial year.
The smartphones offer a host of premium features such as face unlock, camera equipped with multiple modes, intruder selfie, regional language support and font application, Mr. Sujith Rayirath added.
