Nearly 30 years into the struggle against endosulfan, the Endosulfan Victims Support Aid Group (Envisag) and the Joint Forum for Endosulfan Tribunal Rights are setting up a fourth
, literally meaning signature tree, in front of the new bus stand at Kasaragod to take forward the agitation for succour to endosulfan victims.
Writer N.S. Madhavan will open the four-day campaign by inaugurating a seminar on July 19 on the measures for justice to the victims whose Constitutional rights have been violated.
The fourth phase of the strife will urge the Centre to pay forthwith Rs. 200 crore that it owes the State government.
A comprehensive palliative care hospital, which the National Human Rights Commission had decreed in 2010, should be set up either independently or as part of the upcoming medical college. Demand for a special tribunal to fix compensation for endosulfan victims will also be taken up in this phase of the campaign.
