Five men were arrested in connection with the alleged murders of a woman and her two children in Greater Noida’s Omicron 2 on Monday night, the police said on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Manish (19) and Bittu Kasana (18), residents of Ghaziabad’s Loni; Pravin Bhati (18) a resident of Kasna; Ankit Bhati (20), a resident of Dankaur; and Tarun Lohiya (18), a resident of Dadri.
The police had on July 20 discovered the body of 30-year-old Manju Devi, who had suffered severe head injuries, at her residence in Omicron 2.
On Sunday, they found the bodies of her children — Krishna Kant and Priyanka — in Greater Noida’s Khetri canal.
“During interrogation, the main accused, Manish, revealed that he had enmity with the family,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Gautam Budh Nagar) Ajay Pal Sharma.
Late on July 19, the accused and four of his friends went to the terrace of Manju’s house, the police said.
“They waited for the family to go to sleep. After this, they attacked them with rods and knives. They killed Manju and Krishna. They realised Priyanka was also in the room and killed her fearing arrest,” said Mr. Sharma.
The accused then looted the house and fled the spot. The police have recovered the stolen items and have booked the five accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
