The sub-court in the district court has issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against the Assistant Director of Regional Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Madurai, and the Commissioner of Rameswaram Municipality for failing to appear before the court in response to summons.
Taking note that K. Kumar, Assistant Director, Regional Forensic Sciences Laboratory, had failed to appear before the court in October 2017, after receiving summons, Sub-Judge M. Preetha ordered an NBW against him when the case came up for hearing on Wednesday. The official was summoned by the court on October 4, 2017, to submit a report on the fingerprints of a person in a property dispute case, but he failed to appear before the court. The Sub-Judge directed the authorities to produce him before the court on July 17.
In another case, the Sub-Judge issued an NBW against Veeramuthu Kumar, Commissioner, Rameswaram Municipality, for failing to respond to repeated summons. The court had directed him to appear and present copies of the demand notice for house rent for the plaintiff in the case filed in 2007, but he failed to respond to the summons.
