The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has launched a mobile legal services scheme in which a van will visit various parts of the district to create awareness on legal literacy among the common public.
P. Mohanraj, Principal District and Sessions Judge, flagged off the van at a function held on the district court campus here on Friday, in the presence of N. Gunavathi, chairman, District Legal Services Authority, P. Sivagnanam, Chief Judicial Magistrate, and other judicial officers.
A large number of people lack basic legal knowledge and are apprehensive in approaching legal service centres. The van will travel around both the urban and rural pockets to create awareness on legal literacy till the grass-root level, according to V. Ravichandran, Sub-Judge, and secretary of the DLSA. Mr. Mohanraj and other judges also planted saplings on the court campus on the occasion.
