Suggesting a strange solution to growing man-animal conflict in the State, P.C. George, MLA, on Sunday urged Forest Department to legalise hunting of moose, wild boar and bison.
Claiming that their over population had caused tension across the State. He said the department could earn huge income through the slaughter and sale of meat of these animals. There would be many takers for such meat in the State, he said
Inaugurating a convention of social outfit Janapaksham here, Mr. George, however, made it clear that he was not advocating hunting of wild elephants. ‘‘Elephants too are posing threat to farmers and they are also over populated. But I am not pressing such a demand now,’’ Mr. George said.
Mr. George said many foreign countries were now making huge revenue by selling meat of wild animals.
